I was delighted to be asked to write a short introduction to this booklet on the history of the Church of Our Lady and St. Andrew in Galashiels, celebrating its 150th anniversary this year.
As one of the many descendants of James and Charlotte Hope-Scott, I feel so proud of my great grandparents for building such a beautiful church.
My father often spoke of his childhood days in the 1870s and 80s and the excitement of driving in a horse drawn carriage through the Tweed Abbot's Ford to Mass in Galashiels.

 How blest we have all been to have this lovely church, and the wonderful priests who have served here selflessly over the last 150 years.
